PROMOTING ACTIVE HEALTHY LIVING IN
KENNINGTON & VAUXHALL
Dan Stilwell, a
local personal trainer, is co-ordinating with other local
organisations to provide healthy living events, which will be
free and available to anyone. The activities begin at a special
pre-Festival event at Archbishop Sumner School on Friday 8 July
with a circuit training class, health and fitness screenings and
talks about exercise and nutrition. The circuit training classes
will then continue on the following two Thursdays, 14 and 21,
from 6pm at the School. On Friday 22 July, 9am-12noon, Dan will
be available at the ‘Live Long and Be Happy’ event organised by
the Lambeth Walk Group Practice. People can also attend some
introductory Tai Chi classes on Wednesdays 13 and 20 July, 7-9pm
at Kennington Park Community Centre. Throughout the Festival Dan
is running a competition, for a chance to win 8 personal
training sessions (worth £280).
Health and fitness
screenings will give people an opportunity to take various tests
for blood pressure, body fat, heart rate recovery and much more.
They can then compare their results against national norm
charts. Advice will be available for those wishing to improve
their results. During the talks people will get the chance to
ask any questions they may have. At the Lambeth Walk Group
Practice event Dan and Dr Mitra will be checking blood pressure
and giving advice on how to remain fit and well.
The Competition is
open to anyone and winners will be announced at 1:30pm at the
Walnut Tree Walk, Fun Day on 23 July. Dan’s events are sponsored
by the Southbank Club and Alpro Soya.
