Shaping Our Future Public Meeting 28 June 2006

3 February 2007 Planning Event

Section 106

Kennington and Vauxhall are experiencing a new wave of intense development.

Waterloo has been the focus of intense development activity for the past three decades. The London Plan and the Waterloo Development Framework see this process continuing.

There is much local interest in attaining a proper balance that will provide long-term sustainability and ensure that Kennington, Vauxhall and Waterloo remain good places to live.

And the Planning Context and Laws have changed.

Aims of Day

To increase understanding of, and ability to participate in, better articulate aspirations and influence, planning decisions.

To inform people of the threats and opportunities to the area.

To pool knowledge and experience, build confidence and allow networking by community and voluntary groups.

To strengthen the community’s ability to influence the negotiations on the terms of Section 106 agreements.

And are we getting a good deal from Section 106?
